Extra income as a sewing blogger could mean freedom in so many ways!
What would financial freedom mean to you?
How would your life change if you monetized your sewing blog and it paid you a full-time income?
- Freedom to live anywhere
- work on your own terms (for yourself)
- get out of debt
- buy that fancier sewing machine with all the bells and whistles
- or even something more serious like – freedom from that toxic relationship you could be in.
People are actively searching for awesome sewing ideas and projects.
With more people working from home, staying indoors, and needing hobbies to keep them busy and fulfilled, people NEED ideas and tutorials for sewing projects.
They need and are searching for all the things needed to complete a project.
You can see what people are searching for on Pinterest by typing into the search field “how to sew” and then see the suggested searches that pop up. Those auto-generated suggestions mean that those search phrases are trending.
And the people searching are willing to pay money for those patterns, fabrics, classes, supplies, books, etc.
Think about the things you’ve ever searched for related to sewing. Those things are things YOU could be making and selling. You don’t even have to make it yourself, you could be purchasing them wholesale for re-selling, or you could be making money off affiliate links and advertisements.
However, you don’t have to make anything. You could just recommend things you love and make a commission off of it. This is called affiliate income.
Below is a list of ways you can make money with your sewing blog. Keep in mind, when I say blog, you don’t have to have a blog in the strict sense of the word. You could have a YouTube channel, or a Facebook page, or Instagram account where you sell these things.

Don’t get overwhelmed – start small!
I encourage you to not get overwhelmed with this list. Start small. That means just pick one thing to try. Don’t get all scatter-brained, like I tend to, and want to do everything at once. 😊
Highlight 3 of those ideas you want to try.
Try one thing several times. Then move onto the next thing, try that money-maker several times. And so on until you find something that you love and that’s working for you and your sewing blog audience.
It’s good to diversify, too.
Even if one method is bringing in some income, you should probably still try a couple more ways to create several streams of income. That way, if one money-maker tanks, you still have income coming in from your other streams.
Which money-maker idea appeals to you the most?
Is there one way you’d like to learn more about? Personally, I like anything that is fairly “passive” – meaning I like to create it once and sell it multiple times. That’s why I like selling digital patterns, affiliate links, making courses, etc.
Leave a comment below with your top 3 fav money-makers ideas! or tell us what is working for you already? How are you making money with your sewing blog?
Can’t wait to hear from you! I’m a big fan of sharing ideas of what is working so that we can all learn from each other. “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
